[Contest] 20 licenses for MailWasher Pro
UPDATE: The contest is now over but you can still get MailWasher Pro for free here: MailWasher Pro Free via TrialPay.
122 billion emails were sent every hour (billions as in thousand of millions) in 2014, a number that increased in 2015. The only problem is that 65% of those were spam, which gets to about 80 billion. If we were to assume that each of those emails costs 1 second in average before deciding it’s spam we’re looking at 2500+ years – this is the spam cost for the entire global population.
Now anti-spam tools sure do sound enticing, don’t they? That’s what I though too in my journey to find one tool that would help me save the time it takes to go through emails and sort out the good stuff from the spam. Which takes us to MailWasher, a program that helps you clean out the spam before it reaches your inbox.
Firetrust (makers of MailWasher) decided to donate 20 licenses to organize a giveaway for MailWasher Pro. Each license is valued at $30 so this brings the total value for this giveaway to $600. Here are the conditions for this contest:
- Use the Rafflecopter widget below to participate in this giveaway. Just for logging in you get 1 entry, though you can increase your chances by doing additional actions (i.e. share this on Twitter, following social accounts) but these actions are not mandatory.
- You’re allowed to participate only using 1 account, so don’t create different accounts to increase your chances as you will be banned (IPs are logged).
- Contest lasts between Monday 6-July-2015 (12 a.m. GMT+2) and Sunday 12-July-2015 (11:59 p.m. GMT+2)
- By participating you get chances at winning 1 of the 20 available licenses for MailWasher Pro ($30 value each). Each license is valid for a full year.
I will announce the winners soon after the contest ends and deliver each license. Anyway, use the widget below to participate and good luck:
About MailWasher PRO
MailWasher Pro acts as a filter for your emails, allowing you to preview everything that comes your way and decide which email is spam, which is good and should be kept. The best part is that it will learn from these actions and in time you won’t have to mark emails as spam as it will take care of everything. Emails that arrive in MailWasher Pro are in a sort of “secure container”, as you are able to preview them but if those have malicious attachments (i.e. viruses) you cannot infect your computer as it won’t execute anything.
Given the fact that it is used by over 8 million users and received attention from CNN/BBC and other important publications, MailWasher is a good choice if you are looking for an anti-spam tool. The basic principle on how it works can be summed this way:
- Once you install it, MailWasher Pro will let you import existing emails accounts it detects on your computer (i.e. that you’ve previously defined in Outlook).
- It then starts to check the email that comes in and allows you to mark emails as spam, for deletion, add/remove senders from your blacklist or whitelist and basically train MailWasher what to do in the future.
- Next it will start doing the actions you’ve defined previously and at the end it can even launch your own email client that now has only the emails you’ve allowed to go through.
Thus MailWasher Pro does a screening of your emails and lets you decide what to keep. The only thing to do is just start it instead of your regular email client and let it do its magic.
Here are some of its main features that helped gain its reputation:
Easy to install & configure. Right after you finish installing MailWasher Pro you will be prompted to import your email account settings that you’ve previously defined in other mail clients. This is incredibly useful as you won’t have to hunt for server configuration settings or even remember your own passwords. As long as you’ve defined the email elsewhere in another client, this program will know how to import its settings.
Email Screening. It’s a minor habit change but it is definitely worth it! Instead of starting your regular email client, from now on you can start MailWasher Pro to see what wonders are waiting for you on the email server. You can do a quick inspection of the new emails, decide what to keep and what to remove and let the app do its routine – cleaning your email and launching your email client. So the new routine for spam-free emails is: Check Mail – Process Mail (mark for deletion unwanted ones) – Wash Mail (clean). After that you can open your mail client and it will only download the emails that you decided to keep.
Safe Inspection. All the screening happens before email reaches your regular email client. Basically you are able to preview all the email messages that are on the server and decide what to keep and what to mark as spam. Emails can be previewed in plain text and you can do advanced inspection by seeing a whois report on the company that sent it, view all hidden links (good in case of phishing emails) all while staying on the safe side (no attachments are executed).
There’s no “false positive” with MailWasher Pro as you get the final word on what needs to be cleaned and what you should keep.
Intelligent Anti-Spam Tools. MailWasher Pro does its own spam cleanup using the advanced detection technology that empowers it, so all you need to do is be sure it’s accurate enough in your case. As you’ll use it longer, it will learn from your actions and improve its detection, thus from the first time you start it basically the training begins.
Also, it offers other powerful tools to keep spam away. You can add senders to your friends list (so from now on their emails will always be marked safe) or create your own blacklist (emails automatically marked as spam). MailWasher Pro also lets you apply custom filters to your emails. For instance you can define an advanced filter that, when an email contains particular keywords, it will automatically delete it. Filters can range from simple text ones to advanced regular expression filters.
Free Mobile Versions. MailWasher Pro includes free apps for iOS, Android or Windows Mobile. This way your spam-free emails are synced between all your devices. In each of these mobile apps you create your Firetrust account and that keeps the email account information synced between all of your instances. This way if you cleanup your email on your desktop, the cleaned up version will be propagated to all your other devices. Here’s a short video that shows how the mobile versions work:
There are for sure other alternatives to MailWasher but from my own tests this is the only app that lets you have the final word, meaning it won’t delete anything automatically (unless you tell it to do so) thus there’s no chance to lose important emails. Are you using or have you used MailWasher in the past (i.e. their free version)? If so feel free to share your feedback in the comment section below.
P.S. Since you scrolled all this way here’s a bonus: you can get MailWasher Pro for free via Trialpay when you do an action (i.e. sign-up for Amazon).
