Spyware Doctor free (via TrialPay)
Spyware Doctor, published by PC Tools, the makers of now popular Registry Mechanic, lets you clean up your computer from possible spyware infections (the name is not their best choice, as you’d think of it as a doctor that cures sick spyware, making them better – I would’ve went for something like Spyware Remover). Leaving the joke aside, Spyware Doctor can help you when you’re having problems with those spyware pests, that clogs your computer and redirect your browser to all sorts of porn sites (paid ones, that’s the bummer).
Spyware Doctor normally costs around $30, but since it’s one of the offers on Trialpay you can get it for free when you complete one of the offers from their listed advertisers. You can get it here: Spyware Doctor (free via Trialpay).
For those that don’t know what TrialPay is and what completing an offer means, here’s a quote from a previous post on what that means:
The "complete an offer" first sounds a bit tricky, but trust me that if you used Trialpay before there’s always a chance you’d complete an offer that costs you way less then the full price of Spyware Doctor or even find an offer that requires no money from you, just to sign-up. For instance if you need to buy flowers, stamps or anything else that crosses your mind, you can do that via Trialpay and still get Spyware Doctor free as a bonus when you complete that offer (Bestbuy, stamps.com, Sony, apple, and many others are available as advertisers you can complete an offer with).
What features does Spyware Doctor offer:
- Spyware scanner and infections remover
- Password protect the program settings to avoid hijacks
- Full screen mode, meaning no interruptions when you play games or watch movies, even if threats are found (and cured)
- Smart spyware signature updates
- Add-ons available (site guard, email guard, behavior guard)
My review of Spyware Doctor: I admit that before using it, I used other freeware spyware removers. One of them was Spybot Search and Destroy, and the other was Lavasoft’s Ad-aware Free anniversary edition. However, I couldn’t resist the temptation to get Spyware Doctor for free, and used Trialpay to get it. I still keep Spybot installed, but mainly use Spyware Doctor. Truth be told, given that I had 2 spyware programs installed until now, Spyware Doctor didn’t find any threats on the scan (except some cookies), so I can’t vouch for how effective it is against spyware infections. If we were to consider the awards it received (including positive reviews from respectable magazines such as PC World and PC Magazine) and the fact that you hear about them everywhere (they were included on Google Pack too), it’s pretty safe to say that you will be protected from porn site browser redirecting (involuntarily, that is). I’ll keep using it, and if anything bothers me during this time I’ll surely post about it.
Spyware Doctor is only one of many other offers that Trialpay has, you can see a full list in one of my older (but updated) posts – “Free with Trialpay” list of offers.
Other ways to get Spyware Doctor for free: they do promotions with magazines from time to time and give free versions, however the catch is that it’s an older version, not the most current one. So if you do want to go with their latest version, the only legal solution is TrialPay – I’ll keep looking for one of their magazine promotions too.
